Michael Young finally breaks out for Rangers in ALCS clincher

The ball will find you. It always does.

Usually, that saying is intended to be cautionary, warning that someone with inferior defensive skills or playing out of position will eventually have to prove his merit and field the ball.

But at the end of the Texas Rangers' Game 6 victory over the Detroit Tigers in the ALCS, the ball found its way to the player who took his postseason struggles and smacked them all over Rangers Ballpark in Arlington.

Who else should have made that final catch but Michael Young(notes)?

Even though the Rangers were winning games, taking 2-0 and 3-1 series leads, Young was a black hole in the middle of their lineup. Sandwiched between Josh Hamilton(notes) and Adrian Beltre(notes), in the batting order that just keeps on going was Young, who seemed to be killing big innings for his team by not getting hits.

In the first four games of the ALCS, Young was 2-for-17 with one RBI. In the ALDS against the Tampa Bay Rays, he hit 2-for-15. The question hovered over the Rangers as the series progressed. How can Ron Washington keep batting Young at cleanup? But he stood his ground, sticking by the guy who hit .338 during the season, drove in 106 runs, and led the majors with 213 hits.

Young finally justified his manager's faith in him by breaking out when his team, ballpark and fanbase were ready for a clinching victory. He showed signs of working out of his slump with two hits and an RBI in Game 5. He was catching up to that outside fastball that he was late on earlier in the series. He was turning on the inside pitches that previously tied him up.

In Game 6, it all finally clicked back into place for Young. With Tigers pitcher Max Scherzer(notes) reeling in the third inning, Young threw a body blow with a two-run double that tied the score at 2-2. As the Rangers batted around in an explosive nine-run inning, Young came up again and hit yet another two-run double, this time to right field.

Two doubles and four RBI in one inning. Young made up for his postseason slump in two at-bats. In doing so, he became the first player in LCS history to get multiple extra-base hits in the same inning.

But Young wasn't done yet. Against Brad Penny(notes) — the Tigers' equivalent of a white flag — he crushed a home run to dead center field. It was the punctuation mark (an exclamation point) on a game in which the longest-serving Ranger gave his team that last boost toward a second straight American League championship and World Series berth.

Not that he would've had any reason to do so, but Young didn't have to carry that American League championship trophy sheepishly during the Rangers' postgame celebration. But I'm willing to bet he felt a lot better about hoisting that prize over his head after doing his part to win it.

If Young came into this postseason seeking redemption, he certainly found it on Saturday night.

Zachary Quinto Comes Out As Gay In New York Magazine, Talks 'Margin Call,' 'Angels In America'

Zachary Quinto, inheritor of the iconic Mr. Spock role in JJ Abrams' "Star Trek" reboot and the star of the upcoming film "Margin Call," reveals that he is gay in a new profile in New York Magazine. The star, 34, credits his role in the Broadway play "Angels In America," in which he plays a gay man who leaves his AIDS-afflicted boyfriend, for helping to put him further in touch with the hopes felt and struggles faced by both gay and straight Americans, and discusses his political outlook for the rights movement.

Living in New York during the play's run, Quinto says the experience was both challenging and rewarding, and gave him a fresh perspective on the work that needs to be done in the fight for equality. On one hand, New York State legalized gay marriage; on the other, a gay teen committed suicide earlier this year because of unending bullying.

"As a gay man I look at that and say there’s a hopelessness that surrounds it," he says, "but as a human being I look at it and say ‘Why? Where’s this disparity coming from, and why can’t we as a culture and society dig deeper to examine that?’ We’re terrified of facing ourselves.”

Quinto has long been an advocate for gay rights -- he performed in a 2009 staging of "The Laramie Project: 10 Years Later" and appeared at a banquet for the cause that same weekend, and put out an "It Gets Better" video the next year. That often fed into speculation over his sexuality, as did the fact that he's played a number of gay roles, and is doing so again in his latest television show, "American Horror Story."

In an interview with the New York Times last year, he said he preferred discussion about his advocacy over personal matters.

“The fact that these things are such hot-button issues right now, socially and politically, I would much rather talk about that than talk about who I sleep with,” Quinto said. “I would love to be a voice in this maelstrom of chaos and obsessive celebrity infatuation that says, ‘Let’s talk about something that matters.’”

As Spock, he had a blossoming romance with Zoë Saldana's Uhra; he just appeared this fall as the ex-boyfriend of Anna Faris in "What's Your Number.

Breast Cancer Walk to increase awareness in women

Friends and family, people of all ages, celebrated the 5th annual Paint El Paseo Pink breast cancer walk Saturday morning on El Paseo in Palm Desert.

Paint El Paseo Pink is the Desert Cancer Foundation’s largest fundraiser, benefiting the Suzanne Jackson Breast Cancer Fund. The Fund, administered by the Desert Cancer Foundation, is named for the late LPGA tournament director, Suzanne Jackson, a part-time desert resident who was a victim of breast cancer.

This year alone, nearly 40 thousand women will die from breast cancer in the United States. One in eight women will be diagnosed with the disease.

Nearly 1,000 thousand people showed up on El Paseo Saturday, in an effort to fight breast cancer.

Wearing all pink and 11 beaded necklaces, Becky Grossi, celebrated 11 years as a breast cancer survivor.

“It’s an opportunity for me to stop and be so thankful,” said Grossi.

Grossi wasn’t alone, as many women shared stories of their battle against the disease.

“Four years ago I went through cancer, and I’m a survivor and I do this every year with my family,” said Della Obril.

The Desert Cancer Foundation hopes the event will motivate women to get screened and that it will help fund more breast cancer detection services here in the valley, and Grossi agrees.

“It’s an awareness, what people need to do to examine themselves and to prevent this, and also join together to fight it,” said Grossi.

When caught early, before it spreads beyond the breast, the five-year survival rate is 98 percent. Right now, there are more than 2.5 million breast cancer survivors in the U.S.

“It feels awesome, it’s like getting a second chance at life,” said Obril.

A chance to be involved in the effort to find a cure.

Peggy Bilous, the executive director of the Desert Cancer Foundation, says more than 100,000 dollars were raised from Saturday’s breast cancer walk and the Desert Healthcare District promises to match every one of those dollars raised.

Texas Rangers in the 2011 World Series: A Bandwagon-Jumping Fan’s Guide

The Texas Rangers have reached the World Series for the second straight season. They’re an offensive beast of a team (third in scoring in the AL) with a pitching staff that also ranked among the league’s best in 2011. And they did it with a middle-of-the-pack payroll.

So you’re finally ready to jump on the bandwagon, yes? But just who are these American League champions?

Let’s start with manager Ron Washington. One may question some of his decisions, but there’s a lot more to leading a Major League Baseball team than handling in-game tactics. You’ve got 25 highly paid professional athletes to keep happy and motivated and playing up to their potential for a long season. The Rangers have improved their win-loss record every season during Wash’s tenure, and of course have won two straight AL pennants after having only ever won a single playoff game in their history before last year. The man deserves credit for this success. Read Michael J. Mooney’s article from our April issue for all you need to know about Wash.

Next up, you’ve got Michael Young. He’s basically “Mr. Ranger” — the franchise leader in games played, hits, doubles, and triples. He was upset last winter (demanding he be traded) after the Rangers acquired Adrian Beltre and Mike Napoli because he didn’t see how he was going to fit into the everyday lineup. But he ended up with the second-most plate appearances on the team. Both he and the Rangers seem happy they weren’t able to trade him away.

Josh Hamilton has been the Rangers best player over the last few years, though he broke his arm and was out for a spell this season. He won the American League MVP award in 2010. When an accident claimed the life of a fan at the Ballpark earlier this year, I remember hearing many expressions of sorrow that it was Josh Hamilton, of all people, who tossed the ball into the stands which led to the tragedy. I think that’s because we know how Hamilton has had to overcome serious drug addiction and because he seems truly remorseful about the person he used to be. Can’t help rooting for the guy.

Mitch Moreland — I hope the relatively young first baseman has a long and productive major league career, because he really does need to keep his day job.

Elvis Andrus — The young shortstop is a dynamic force on the bases. He also needs to keep his day job.

Ian Kinsler — The second baseman is one of the few Rangers who rocks the long socks.

Adrian Beltre — He was the Rangers’ big free-agent signing after they failed to land the Philadelphia Phillies Pitcher Who Shall Not be Named. He’s been a big defensive upgrade at third base and another great offensive threat in their already packed lineup. He doesn’t like to have his head touched. I mean, really.

Nelson Cruz — You may have heard about the awesome American League Championship Series he had. It’s unbelievable that a hitter so potent would be batting seventh in the lineup, but that’s how good these Rangers have been offensively this season. And if they end up facing off against the Milwaukee Brewers in the World Series, remember that Milwaukee could have had him.

Mike Napoli — If the Los Angeles Angels were a team run by rationality rather than the gut instincts of Mike Scioscia, Napoli would have been behind the plate in Anaheim this year. Instead the Angels gave up the best offensive catcher in the baseball this year and kept the worst offensive catcher. Napoli was the best hitter in the American League during the second half of the season. And I still want this T-shirt.

C.J. Wilson — He’s better at life than we are.

Derek Holland — I think it makes him look like Cletus the Slack-Jawed Yokel, but his mustache has surged in popularity. So maybe he’s hoping to land himself a Taco Bell commercial.

Colby Lewis — Hey, Richie Whitt, look here. The guy was able to take paternity leave to witness the birth of his child in April, and it didn’t cost the Rangers anything really.

Matt Harrison — Let’s take a moment to appreciate this fact: In the middle of 2007, the Rangers traded away star first baseman Mark Teixeira. As only part of the haul they received in return, they got starting pitcher Harrison, closer (and last year’s AL Rookie of the Year) Neftali Feliz, and shortstop Elvis Andrus. All three are key members of the AL champs. Where is Teixeira? Sitting home with the rest of the ousted New York Yankees.

David Murphy — He also rocks the socks.

Craig Gentry — The dude can fly around the bases.

The Bullpen — Feliz, Alexi Ogando (who made the All-Star team as a starter this year and looks like he’s from Easter Island), Scott Feldman (with his impressive playoff beard) and the rest have been generally terrific in the playoffs when the Rangers starters have not been quite as sharp as they were most of the season.

At this writing, we don’t know whether the Rangers will face the St. Louis Cardinals or the Milwaukee Brewers in the World Series that starts Wednesday, but they’re bound to be the favorite in either case. Rangers in 5.

Obama dedicates MLK Memorial

WASHINGTON - "An earthquake and hurricane may have delayed this day," said President Obama at the dedication of a memorial to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., "but it was a day not to be denied."

Mr. Obama said Dr. King has returned to the National Mall - a symbol of the change he galvanized - at a ceremony attended by thousands.

The president said that King "stirred our conscience" and made the Union "more perfect."

Crowds began at dawn to crowd onto the memorial site, just to the southeast of the steps where King delivered his historic "I Have a Dream" speech. Designed as what King described as a stone of hope hewn from a mountain of despair, the memorial is the first to a black man on the National Mall and its parks, and the first monument to a non-president on the Mall.

"In this place he will stand for all time among monuments of those who fathered this nation and those who defended it," President Obama said, "a black preacher, no official rank or title, who somehow gave voice to our deepest dreams and our most lasting ideas - a man who stirred our conscience and thereby helped make our union more perfect."

The president also said the monument was not for the assassinated leader alone: "The movement of which he was a part depended on an entire generation of leaders. Many are here today, and for their service and their sacrifice we owe them our everlasting gratitude. This is a monument to your collective achievement.

"Some giants of the civil rights movement like Rosa Parks and Dorothy Height, Benjamin Hooks, Reverend Fred Shuttlesworth, they've been taken from us these past few years. This monument attests to their strength and their courage. And while we miss them dearly, we know they rest in a better place.

"Finally, there are the multitudes of men and women whose names never appear in the history books. Those who marched and those who sang, those who sat in and those who stood firm. Those who organized and those who mobilized - all those men and women who through countless acts of quiet heroism helped bring about changes few thought were even possible ... faceless, anonymous, relentless young people, black and white, [who] have taken our whole nation back to those great wells of democracy which were dug deep by the founding fathers in the formulation of the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence. To those men and women, those foot soldiers for justice, know that this monument is yours as well."

Mr. Obama (who was 6 when King was assassinated) credits him with helping to pave his way to the White House as the nation's first black president.

Martin Luther King Jr. memorial

Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder and poet Nikki Giovanni were among those who honored the legacy of the nation's foremost civil rights leader.

Today's ceremony had been postponed from its original scheduled dat4e by Hurricane Irene.

Some attendees started lining up at 5 a.m. and even earlier Sunday morning. Organizers anticipate as many as 50,000 people will attend. By 9 a.m., thousands of seats were filled, and attendees were greeted with bright sunlight.

Cherry Hawkins traveled from Houston with her cousins and arrived at 6 a.m. to be part of the dedication. They postponed earlier plans to attend the August dedication, which was postponed because of Hurricane Irene.

"I wanted to do this for my kids and grandkids," Hawkins said. She expects the memorial will be in their history books someday. "They can say, `Oh, my granny did that."'

Hawkins, her cousin DeAndrea Cooper and Cooper's daughter Brittani Jones, 23, visited the King Memorial on Saturday after joining a march with the Rev. Al Sharpton to urge Congress to pass a jobs bill.

"You see his face in the memorial, and it's kind of an emotional moment," Cooper said. "It's beautiful. They did a wonderful job."

King Memorial foundation president Harry Johnson called Sunday "a day of fulfillment."

About 1.5 million people are estimated to have visited the 30-foot-tall statue of King and the granite walls where 14 of his quotations are carved in stone. The memorial is the first on the National Mall honoring a black leader.

The sculpture of King with his arms crossed appears to emerge from a stone extracted from a mountain. It was carved by Chinese artist Lei Yixin. The design was inspired by a line from the famous "I Have a Dream" speech in 1963: "Out of the mountain of despair, a stone of hope."

King's "Dream" speech during the March on Washington galvanized the civil rights movement.

King's older sister, Christine King Farris, said she witnessed a baby become "a great hero to humanity." She said the memorial will ensure her brother's legacy will provide a source of inspiration worldwide for generations.

"He was my little brother, and I watched him grow and develop into a man who was destined for a special kind of greatness," she said. To young people in the crowd, she said King's message is that "Great dreams can come true and America is the place where you can make it happen."

King's daughter, the Rev. Bernice King, said her family is proud to witness the memorial's dedication. She said it was a long time coming and had been a priority for her mother, Coretta Scott King, who died in 2006.

Bernice King and her brother Martin Luther King III said their father's dream is not yet realized. Martin Luther King III said the nation has "lost its soul" when it tolerates vast economic disparities, teen bullying, and having more people of color in prison than in college.

He said the memorial should serve as a catalyst to renew his father's fight for social and economic justice.

"The problem is the American dream of 50 years ago ... has turned into a nightmare for millions of people" who have lost their jobs and homes, King said.

The choir from King's historic Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta was scheduled to sing.

The nation's first black president, who was just 6 years old when King was assassinated in April 1968 in Memphis, Tenn., will speak about the man he has said "gave his life serving others."

Giovanni planned to read her poem "In the Spirit of Martin," and Franklin was to sing.

Early in the ceremony, during a rendition of "Lift Every Voice and Sing," the crowd cheered when images on screen showed Obama on the night he won the 2008 presidential election.

Organizers announced a concert will follow the dedication, featuring Stevie Wonder, James Taylor, Sheryl Crow and others.

ASU Vs. Oregon: Ducks' Speed And Execution Too Much For Devils In 41-27 Defeat

In a season of great leaps forward and streaks broken, Arizona State fell back into old habits in their 41-27 loss to Oregon on Saturday.

Entering the game, ASU was ranked No. 18 in the nation and in total control of the Pac-12 South. Standing in their way was No. 9 Oregon and their lightning fast offense. Even with the Ducks' star running back LaMichael James missing the game, the Ducks were still loaded with explosive playmakers.

The Devils opened with a three-and-out, but a Kenjon Barner fumble gave ASU excellent field position, which they promptly converted into a 20-yard touchdown pass from Brock Osweiler to Gerrell Robinson.

A defensive stand by the Devils' defense was wasted by a bad drive by the offense, and the Ducks then took advantage on the next drive. An ASU personal foul aided the Ducks as they soon scored on a 16-yard De'Anthony Thomas run.

The Devils did show great resolve in answering back immediately. Despite their running game being completely shut down, ASU drove 77-yards in seven plays that ended with a 25-yard scoring pass from Osweiler to Mike Willie.

ASU appeared to have forced the Ducks to punt after a thrid down incompletion, but a Bo Moos roughing the passer call extended the drive, and in typical Oregon blitzkrieg fashion, they soon scored the tying touchdown after three Darron Thomas passes.

A Shelly Lyons interception appeared to primed the Devils for a big swing, but the drive stalled and ended in a 37-yard field goal by Alex Garoutte. Late in the second half, the Devils were driving deep into Ducks' territory when a taunting penalty on Gerrell Robinson after his clutch catch pushed the Devils back. On the very next play, Osweiler was intercepted in the endzone by Cliff Harris, who returned it 50 yards. Three plays later, Thomas threw another touchdown pass to give Oregon a 21-17 lead that they took into halftime.

ASU's chances appeared to get a huge boost on Oregon's first drive that opened the second half. Darron Thomas was injured on a run and did not return. After a brief bump from the shock of being without their starting running back and quarterback, the Ducks soon were back.

Before that, Arizona State did manage to re-take the lead, after a 51-yard swing pass to Jamal Miles was capped by a touchdown run by Cameron Marshall to put the Devils ahead 24-21.

Then the Ducks ground game went into full on beast mode.

With backup quarterback Bryan Bennett in the game, the Ducks ran De'Anthony Thomas and Kenjon Barner right down the Sun Devils' throats. Even Bennett got into the action, with a 36-yard run among his 65 yards for the game. Both Thomas and Barner scored touchdowns in the third quarter, and another Oregon field goal early in the fourth quarter gave Oregon a lead that would never be threatened.

It surely wouldn't be in danger with the conservative playcalling of Dennis Erickson. On the next drive, he opted for a 30-yard field goal instead of attempt a fourth and seven at the Ducks' 13, and later opted to punt with just under eight minutes left in the game and trailing by 14 points, following another Oregon field goal.

The Ducks were able to run out the clock while ASU appeared defeated on both offense and defense. The final Sun Devil drive with under a minute left ended with a perfect touchdown strike to Jamal Miles being bobbled and then intercepted.

It was that kind of night.

Oregon finished with 327 yards on the ground, including Barn'er career-high 171.

Yet, this should be a mere speed bump to the Sun Devils' season. The Sun Devils head into their bye week with a solid 5-2 record and are 3-1 in conference play, and still firmly in control of the South division.

Nelson Cruz Leads Texas Rangers Back To World Series

ARLINGTON, Texas -- After waiting until their 50th season to reach their first World Series, the Texas Rangers are going right back.

Nelson Cruz had one more big blast, Michael Young caught the final out long after hitting a pair of doubles in one of the highest-scoring postseason innings ever and the Rangers became the American League's first repeat champion in a decade.

The team that lost Cliff Lee in free agency and held onto Young after his offseason trade request finished off the Detroit Tigers with a 15-5 romp Saturday night to win the AL championship series in six games.

"This is a great trophy, we're real proud of it," said Young, who walked off the field with the AL championship trophy in his hands. "But we're looking forward to the one with all the flags on it. ... Happy, but not satisfied."

Cruz was selected ALCS MVP after his postseason-record sixth home run of the series, and he also had a record 13 RBIs. Young hit a pair of two-run doubles in a nine-run third inning that sent the Rangers on their way to becoming the AL's first consecutive pennant winner since the New York Yankees won four in a row from 1998-01.

"We wanted to get to the World Series. But the bottom line is getting to the World Series and winning it. We feel pretty confident about ourselves," manager Ron Washington said. "More than anything else, the commitment they made in November after San Francisco sent us home, they held true to it."

Texas will open the World Series on Wednesday night at St. Louis or Milwaukee, seeking the first title in the history of a franchise that started play in 1961. The World Series returns deep in the heart of Texas with Game 3 next Saturday night.

Young, who also homered and had five RBIs in the finale, caught Brandon Inge's game-ending popout in short right field and pumped a right hand into the air signaling "No. 1" while fireworks and confetti filled the sky, then ran toward the middle of the field to celebrate with his teammates.

Cruz threw both hands in the air and briefly knelt to a knee in the outfield before running to the infield for the ginger ale-spraying celebration, and a banner was unfurled high over center field declaring the Rangers 2011 AL champions. The postgame celebration included Cruz getting the AL MVP trophy.

Bostick will do anything and everything to hold onto his title...even if it means screwing up his marriage to the lovely, Jessica (Rosamind Pike).

Okay, so to sum up...We have three men who are passionate about birds...lots of male bonding...even some female, male bonding and of course...birds...beautiful, colorful and expressive birds. And I mustn't forget the incredible scenery. 'The Big Year' was shot was shot in Tofino, Osoyoos, Whistler, British Columbia, Upstate New York, Fire Island, Joshua Tree and the Florida Everglades.

Does all that add up to a super funny comedy? Not so much. But the film did make me chuckle several times.

I gave the film more bagels, of course, than John...but we weren't too far apart. Check out our video to see the final count.

Want to watch a preview clip of Kellie Pickler‘s upcoming ’90210′ guest appearance, which airs on Tuesday, Oct. 18? We’re happy to oblige and share via the video below. It’s the singer’s acting debut, and she portrays a sweet, small-town country singer named Sally, who is the cousin of Justin Deeley’s Austin.

Pickler will also perform ‘Tough’ on the episode, as it’s her brand-new single. What better way to promote a new single then with a national TV appearance? Score one for Kellie Pickler.

Pickler has gone on record saying that she enjoyed her first foray into acting, but she prefers music and being on the radio. So country fans needn’t worry that Pickler has been bitten by the acting bug and plans to abandon her musical career in favor of the silver or the small screen! This was just a little experiment for Pickler and though she handled herself like a seasoned pro, we prefer her as a country singer.

If you can’t wait until next week to watch the full episode, watch this short but sweet clip on repeat. Pickler is so adorable and wholesome you’ll want to put her in your pocket and carry her around all day.

Steve Wozniak first in line as Apple's iPhone 4S goes on sale

Steve Wozniak, the man who co-founded Apple with the late Steve Jobs, was first in line waiting to buy an iPhone 4S at an Apple Store in Los Gatos on Friday.

The Los Gatos Apple Store opened at 8 a.m., but Wozniak queued up about 18 hours before the store's opening, as he mentioned on Twitter from his @stevewoz account on Thursday, writing:

The long wait begins. I'm first in line. The guy ahead was on the wrong side and he's pissed.

Joe Hewitt, the co-founder of the popular web browser Firefox, spotted "the Woz" outside the store shortly after he first lined up in Los Gatos and noted that he was riding a Segway scooter, another piece of technology Wozniak has expressed a passion for. Hewitt tweeted:

Woz and his Segway first in line at the Los Gatos Apple Store. Only one in line too!

Later, Hewitt wrote on Twitter:

Still only one other guy in line at the LG Apple Store with Woz, but the TV news trucks are swarming. I expect hysteria tomorrow.

Sure enough, a few news outlets showed up to the Los Gatos store to talk to Wozniak about lining up.NBC Bay Area stopped by to ask the Silicon Valley icon just what he was up to, given that Wozniak could likely get an iPhone 4S (or any other Apple product) from Apple directly without too much trouble. The website TechCrunch stopped by as well, appropriately filming a quick interview with him using the previous-generation iPhone 4.

Wozniak explained to both news outlets that he loves waiting in line for major Apple releases such as the iPhone 4S and this is in fact something he has done a few times before.

The Woz said he was planning to buy a white iPhone 4S on Verizion for his wife and that two new AT&T iPhone 4S handsets were being shipped to his home to replace his two AT&T iPhone 4 units.

In TechCrunch's video interview, Wozniak told reporter Jon Orlin that he believes the iPhone 4S is the first step toward a new future for mobile gadgets because of Siri, Apple's new voice-commanded assistant app which Wozniak called an "answer engine." Siri is making its debut on the iPhone 4S.

"Siri -- I have been using Siri, touting it and feeling that this is the way I want all mobile devices to be in the future, in the near future and the far future," Wozniak told Orlin. "You speak to it and it speaks back or it prints back answers, not just links to things that might get you what you need."

Phoenix Jones, real-life Seattle superhero, unmasked in court

Every superhero has a double identity — Superman led a double life as reporter Clark Kent, Batman was billionaire Bruce Wayne in the day time, and now, Seattle self-styled superhero Phoenix Jones has been forced to reveal his real identity in court as father and husband Ben Fodor.

The leader of a group of self-proclaimed “superheroes” called the Rain City Superhero Movement (RCSM) never lost his superhero panache in court, even whipping off his shirt to reveal his now famous black and yellow costume after the hearing was over.

Fodor was arrested Sunday this week on four counts of assault following the pepper-spray incident.

The official police report on the incident says the partygoers were not fighting, but walking to their car “dancing and having a good time.”

Fodor spent about seven hours behind bars before posting $3,800 bail.

The RCSM leader, who has been fighting crime on Seattle streets since at least February of this year, has previously been credited withpreventing a carjacking. He is married to another masked vigilante he calls PurpleReign.

Fodor spoke briefly to the media after the hearing Friday, saying:

I will continue to patrol with my team, probably tonight. ... In addition to being Phoenix Jones, I am also Ben Fodor, father and brother. I am just like everybody else. The only difference is that I try to stop crime in my neighborhood and everywhere else.

He then left with his lawyer, Matt Hartman, without taking any questions. Hartman told the media that his client “stands for all that is right and good.”
